SCUBA DIVING TOURS IN CRETE, GREECE FOR 2002diving in Crete - Diver's Club - Boat Diving Tours - Tour Details - What is included - PADI Tours - CMAS Tours - Tour Dates and Prices - Hotels ![]() EcoGreece offers some carefully planned diving tours in association with the Diver's Club in Agia Pelagia. Agia Pelagia is located 24 km west from Heraklion city in a beautiful, protected bay. The village has a lovely, organised beach with sun loungers available, a wide variety of restaurants, taverns and bars. There are also a few smaller beaches located nearby. There are plenty of amenities in the village. Excursions to places of interest around the island can be booked at one of the travel agencies. These include visits to historical museums and archaeological sites as well as other towns. You will find the dive centre inside the complex of "Capsis Beach Hotel", one of the most beautiful hotels in Greece. If you need a brake from diving, the hotel has also a lot of other facilities to offer, such as water sports, a fitness club, tennis courts, etc. The surrounding area to the diving center is very beautiful and perfect conditions are to be found for diving. Water visibility exceeds 80 ft and there is a huge variety in different diving locations that include reefs, cave and rock walls.
The club is equipped with SHERWOOD-USA equipment, the air-bottles are FABER-steel 10, 12 and 15 litres with DIN and INT valves. The quality of the compressor air is guaranteed by the German BAUER-Kompressoren company. Diving equipment is also available to buy as well as rent. Our long time experience in the sale of diving equipment guarantees their quality and service history. Divers are taken to the diving locations in the CLUB's speed-boat. Daily cruising tours are offered on our new, specially designed diving-boat. Our two boats take the divers offshore to the diving locations. The marine flora and fauna, you will come across, consists of sea anemones, sponges, little corals, starfish, black-fish, rock-fish, octopuses, morays, rock-perch, lobsters, etc. In addition, you may stumble on old, sunken anchors and fragments of ancient amphorae. All diving expeditions take place under the guidance of a Divemaster.
Two boats are especially designed to guarantee the best comfort on your diving trips. Enjoy daily diving-tours on our new cruising-boat! This is a 33 ft long and 11.5 ft beam, especially constructed diving-boat. It has a capacity of 22-26 divers and is designed to offer modern comfort and guarantee a safe and enjoyable trip for you and your family or friends. Non-divers are very welcome to accompany the divers and enjoy snorkeling at the dive-sides. Lunch, sandwiches and soft drinks are offered on board. Powered by an IVECO AIFO inboard turbo-diesel engine the boat travels quickly to different destinations every day in a maximum distance of 20 miles. All the trips are going to be done along the coast close to the shore where we'll anchor and dive in different dive sites. Meeting time for departure is at 08:00 in
the morning, departure time at 08:30 and return time between 16:00 and
17:00 in the afternoon. Our speedboat measures 25 ft length
and is equipped with a Mercury 165HP outboard engine. The boat's capacity
is 12 divers.
You will arrive to Agia Pelagia on Saturday. Agia Pelagia is 24 km west of Iraklion so your flight will have to be booked for the Iraklion airport. Sunday is the first day that you will enjoy diving. You meet your Divemaster at 08:00 am and embark the boat. The boat departs at 08:30 am and takes you to the diving location. At the end of the first dive of the day you will either have a quick lunch on board, or the whole team will be transfered to a nearby port and a local tavern. Your second dive takes place early in the afternoon and are back in your hotel by 4 or 5 pm. You may enjoy your dinner at one of the many greek taverns by the beach of Agia Pelagia. You may wish to copy the Greek people, and order a combination of different appetizers plus a number of main dishes. Greek people rarely order a main dish for each person. They usually order a variety of different dishes and share them all together. Experiment with this new eating style and enjoy the great variety of different tastes. The same plan applies for every day. There are many different locations in the area of Agia Pelagia but for 2003 the diving area is expected to be expanded even more, from Panormo to the west until Hersonissos to the east and Dia to the north. It is a 35 nautical miles diving field with an impressive variety of different diving locations. Health reasons imply that you won't do any diving 24 hours prior to your flight back home. This means that your last dive will be on the afternoon of the sixth day. The seventh day will be for you to relax, look around or visit the Archaeological Museum of Iraklion and the Minoan Palace of Knossos. It is easy to book a guided tour to the above sites at one of the many local agencies. EcoGreece can also arrange it for you. Just ask us to do it!
