Greece Sailing Tours

EcoGreece's Greek sailing tours offer a unique way to travel to the Greek Islands. With a total of 8,500 miles of coastline on mainland Greece and over 2,000 Greek Islands of which approximately 160 are inhabited, Greece provides some of the best cruising grounds in the world.

Cruising Areas

EcoGreece has sailing bases in Athens, the Ionian and Aegean Seas. From our Athens base there is access to the islands of the Saronic, the Argolic Gulf and the Western Cyclades: Kea, Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Milos.

Our other bases in the Ionian and Aegean Seas serve the rest of the island groups: Ionian islands, Central Cyclades, North Aegean and the Dodekanese islands. By having three different sailing bases allows EcoGreece to offer sailing cruises at a very affordable cost subsequently allowing you a shorter departure port to Island distance depending on what islands you want to visit. Wherever you want to go EcoGreece will get you there!

The best time to sail in the Greek islands is between May and October. Within these months it is sunny, warm and dry. However there may also be days when it can be windy or even too windy for sailing, especially in July and August.

The weather and your safety will dictate how far you can go. Your skipper will be your guardian angel!

Our Greek Island cruises do not require any special equipment other than fins, masks and snorkels which you should bring. Wind and rain proof jackets are advisable. Cameras should be water resistant or disposable. Hats and sun protection are absolutely indispensable. Clothes should be: lots of t-shirts, shorts and bermuda shorts, swimsuits. For your shore excursions, day or evening, simple dress on the "smart side of casual" is the code. Shoes should be soft-soled mocs, "deck-shoe" style. Absolutely no heels low or high on board please! All your luggage should be soft and foldable. No rigid or semi-rigid suitcases please. Of course the lighter you travel the better. Towels and bed linen is provided but you will need your own beach towel.

Sailboats for charter are from 30 ft to 60 ft with an experienced skipper, as well as larger boats with a full crew. The smaller boats up to 60 ft are modern sloop type being less than 10 years old.
